A woman from my bank called the other day. After taking care of some business, I asked her if she knew the Lord. “No” she replied. Have you read the Bible? “Not much” she admitted. Do you know the Ten Commandments? “Yes.” Have you ever told a lie? “Yes.” What does that make you? “A sinner?” Actually it makes you a liar. “OK.” Have you ever had hatred for someone? “Yes.” According to God, hatred in the heart is murder. “Really?” Have you ever used your Creator’s name in vain? At this point she objected “You make it sound like I’m a horrible person.” I told her “I’m guilty as well. You see, God’s Commandments show us how much we need the Savior.”
I continued – “Do you know the penalty for lying, murder, or blasphemy?” “No” she replied. “The Bible says the penalty is death – physical and then spiritual separation in hell. Is there any hope for sinners?” She wasn’t sure. “The Bible tells us that God became a man and lived the perfect life and died in our place. To receive God’s forgiveness we must repent and place our trust in Jesus who died as our substitute.”
We continued to talk for several minutes. It was another Divine appointment and her life will never be the same. Now consider this. If every Christian shared the truth with just one soul each week, soon all would hear the convicting gospel. Please do your part – one soul at a time.
