At a time when less than 5,000 stars were visible to the human eye, God states that the stars of heaven are innumerable. Not until the 17th century did Galileo glimpse the immensity of our universe with his new telescope. Today, astronomers estimate that there are ten thousand billion trillion stars – that’s a 1 followed by 25 zeros! Yet, as the Bible states, scientists admit this number may be woefully inadequate.
First Corinthians 15:41 informs us that “One star differs from another star in glory.” Centuries before the advent of the telescope, the Bible declares what only God and the angels knew – each star varies in size and intensity! These and many other scientific insights place the Bible far above every other so-called inspired book. And scientific facts foreseen in Scripture offer an ideal way to bring up the things of God in conversation. You can simply ask someone in conversation, “Did you know that centuries before the telescope, the Bible anticipated that there are countless stars and that each star is unique?” Or you could ask, “Do you know what ancient book foresaw facts about the Creation long before scientists discovered them?”
From there you can explain who the Creator is. Explain His Holy nature by using the Ten Commandments. And then use the spirit of the law to expose their need for their Creator/Savior. Then identify the Creator as Jesus Christ, and explain the gospel. Remember, the creation, rightly appreciated, always glorifies the Creator!
