I do not like visits to the dentist. Something about that drilling noise goes right through me. And witnessing with all those instruments in your mouth can be nearly impossible. But God makes a way if we’re willing.
Before sitting I greeted my hygienist. She asked what I was up to and I told her that I was involved in ministry. She spoke of her church activities as the cleaning began. I prayed, and after rinsing, I asked her if she proclaims the gospel. She said she lives the gospel. I rinsed again and quoted Jesus saying He was the only way to heaven and that we are commanded to preach His Word. She became upset and said she did not believe that – that is narrow-minded. Again I waited till the rinse cycle and said if we can prove the Bible is true, wouldn’t it be the loving thing to warn those who are on the wrong path. She repeated “I don’t believe that.” She was getting more aggressive in my mouth so I waited till she finished. I concluded with the verse, “Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?” As I left I encouraged her to search the Bible.
Oftentimes witnessing is not fun, but it is our commission. Now let’s pray – Dear Lord I am weak, I don’t feel like witnessing in this situation, help me to obey and may You be glorified as I step out this day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
