If you’re disabled or have limited transportation means, perhaps a phone, letter or internet ministry would be one way for you to spread the gospel. I once read about a woman who was handicapped and restricted to her home. She was at times lonely, but wanted to serve the Lord. So she decided to place a small ad in the Newspaper that said something like this: “I’m handicapped and have few visitors. If you’re lonely and need prayer, please call. I’m a good listener and would love to pray for you.” Soon, she had more calls then she could answer. Of course not all of the callers were Christians. Think about the great opportunities she must have had to encourage believers and share the hope of the gospel with others.
I have an old engineering business that is still listed in the phone book. I have not removed the listing because I still receive calls from engineers seeking employment. Often these individuals are at a critical juncture in their lives. By listening and trying to help them and then asking about their circumstances, the Lord has often opened the conversation to share eternal life.
If you’re in a situation where a phone ministry makes sense, ask the Lord how to proceed, receive godly counsel for safety sake, and, if the Lord opens the door, step through. One seed planted in love will yield everlasting fruit.
