Jesus said “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” He also said “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time…with persecutions--and in the age to come, eternal life.”
Recently I was sharing with a man who claimed to be an agnostic. After 30 minutes of conversation he realized there was a Creator to whom he was accountable. The man was convicted, but he said “I want to live for the here and now!” So I asked him, “Why are going to college?” He replied, “I am going to college because the job market is tight and I want to land a good job so I have a secure future.” I said, “So you are investing in your future?” “Well, yes” he replied. Then I asked, “If you’re willing to expend time, money, and energy to secure a good career in this short life, wouldn’t it make sense to invest in eternity?” He understood the point.
Today’s witnessing tip is this: Ask someone “What are you investing in to assure a good future?” Then contrast those short-term benefits with the eternal profit of knowing and serving the Lord.
