God’s Word tells us that the Holy “Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” Have you ever groaned in prayer for the lost? We are informed that Jesus sighed deeply over unbelief. He groaned in the spirit over the terrible consequences of sin, and He wept for those who rejected Him.
If you have chosen to obey the Great Commission, you too will groan for the lost. We sigh over their unbelief. And we travail in prayer for those who have been taken captive by the devil. There is a deep communion with the Lord that occurs when a believer labors and travails to witness too, and pray for, those He died for. His perfect love is manifest. And sometimes love hurts. But be encouraged, your prayerful tears may be just what will soften their stony hearts to receive the Word of life.
Perhaps you have left the battle because you are tired of the groaning and pain. Sometimes it seems in vain. But God assures us that our “labor is not in vain in the Lord.” So be encouraged and remember the apostle Paul’s exhortation: “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
