Scripture explains that “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”[1]

If this is the case, how do we share with an unsaved person? One way is to start with what is called General Revelation. According to the Bible, God has revealed certain truth’s to every man. One foundational revelation is called conscience. We read in Roman’s 2:14-15 – “For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness…”[2]

How can you use this truth when witnessing? Simply by reminding the lost of the demands of God’s Holy Law. Remind them that God sees lust as adultery; hatred as murder in the heart; and selfishness as idolatry.[3] God’s Word tells us that the Law will stop their excuses for sin, and reveal their guilt against God.[4] In other words, the Ten Commandments awaken a seared conscience. Their excuses for sin are stopped and they see that they need the Savior.[5] Then you can share the good news!
