While street witnessing at a local arts and craft show, I approached a man sitting in his booth. I complimented him on his handiwork, but he seemed quite agitated as if he knew I was there to witness. After a moment of browsing, I asked if I could give him a booklet. He stood up, clenched his fist and replied angrily, “No, and I didn’t invite you into my booth so leave!”
As I began walking away I believe the Holy Spirit gave me words. So I turned back to him and said, “You have to deal with the fact that He rose from the dead.” This did not go over very well. He was now turning red, stepping toward me, and with a threatening tone, he replied “That is a bunch of bunk.” He cursed; I shared another Scripture, then left. I knew someone had witnessed to him before and trusted the Lord that this is what he needed to hear.
Jesus promised His followers that they did not have to worry how to answer when they were called before men for His sake: “For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” So continue to abide in His Word, obey Him and step out, and then trust Him to give you just the right words for every encounter.
