Witnessing to Strangers
Listen to the audio

Most of us tremble when we consider witnessing to complete strangers. How can I approach them? What should I say? One approach is what I call the survey method. Go to a place where people gather – the mall, a park, a college union – where ever people meet. Then approach someone with these words: “Excuse me sir, I’m involved in a ministry and we are taking a survey, do you have a few minutes?” Some will say “No”, others will say “Sure.” If they say “No”, ask if they would like a free booklet on eternal matters – and have some ready to give out. If they say “Yes”, be ready with a couple survey questions dealing with eternity. For example “Where do you think you will you go when you die?” or “Do you think all good people go to heaven?” Prayerfully listen and trust the Lord to guide the conversation. You can personalize the survey approach with your own particular ministry. For example, if you’re involved in a teen ministry, approach teens with these words: “Hey guys, I’m involved in a teen’s ministry and we’re asking people questions pertaining to spirituality. Do you have a moment?” On the next program I will share what happened at the Mall the other day using this approach. For now, pray and go.
