I was sharing with a young man one day, when his friend tried to undermine what I was saying by stating his own beliefs. I asked him if it were possible that his opinions were incorrect. He replied, “Sure, but your opinions may be wrong as well.” “Good point” I said, “Who can we then trust when it comes to our eternity?” He replied “No one, they’re all man’s opinions.” I responded “But if we can prove that the Bible is God’s inspired Word, then wouldn’t it be wise to hear what God has to say.” He agreed and I proceeded to use prophecy to demonstrate the Bible’s veracity.
When sharing, remember that biblical faith is not blind faith. Hebrews 11 tells us that biblical “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Notice, biblical faith is based on substantial evidence. In contrast, man’s theories are based on opinions. We alone have many infallible proofs which substantiate the Word of God. Be sure to point this out when you share.
Some may believe in man-made philosophies or false religions, but you can ask them what evidence they have to support their beliefs. You will discover that they will have no substantial evidence at all. Then you can reason with them concerning the value of their eternal souls and encourage them to seriously study the evidence found in God’s Word.
The Bible warns us to “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” So never fear man’s philosophies. Instead, point out that the Bible alone offers substantial evidence to verify its inspiration.
